The exponentially-increasing COVID-19 cases is rapidly overwhelming healthcare systems around the world. Doctors will routinely be forced to decide who will live and who will die based on ventilator capacity.
We are an international group of scientists, hailing from Universities and companies such as Cambridge/PostEra (Dr Alpha Lee), Diamond/Oxford (Prof Frank von Delft), Enamine, Memorial Sloan Kettering (Prof John Chodera), Vancouver Prostate Centre/University of British Columbia (Prof Artem Cherkasov) and Weizmann Institute (Prof Nir London), trying to do our small part to help combat COVID-19 (see https://covid.postera.ai/covid)
Scientists at Diamond in the UK have conducted a fragment screen against the SARS-CoV-2 main protease. This is one of the most promising protein targets for anti-viral therapeutics. We have already found over 60 fragment hits with structures of the fragment-protein complex.
We believe we can deliver a therapeutic to patients before the pandemic goes on to become a full-blown catastrophe.
We know this is a moonshot. However, We have lined up the best science, cutting-edge machine learning tools, and an interdisciplinary team to significantly decrease the timeline of drug discovery in this unique situation. We break away from the traditional paradigm in drug discovery - open data without intellectual property constrains.
We need your help.
Specially, your donations will be used to make and test chemical compounds against COVID-19. Every $500 funds a new compound.
All funding raised through our GoFundMe page is being managed by Dr Alpha Lee of PostEra Inc. All funds raised from the crowdfunding will be detailed in an openly accessible document, which will detail the the amount raised to date, the amount spent to date, balance remaining, what the funding has been spent on, and who it has been paid to. This document will be updated at least weekly. All of the funds raised will go toward the synthesis and testing of the most promising compounds that result from the project submissions.
