Hi Guys!
So back in June I was diagnosed with a 12mm brain tumour/cyst on my Pineal Gland - it's called a Pineocytoma. And if I'm honest, life has been pretty challenging since then!
I've been seeing multiple specialists since June about my symptoms (nausea, headaches, tiredness, vision problems, my memory and cognition is shot and I'm having electric brain shocks), I'm in bed most days because of the this. I recently finished and graduated from my Masters in July and have been unable to work or anything since then.
I've also been diagnosed with depression in conjunction with this and have been struggling day to day. I've been told numerous times that our little tumour friend is not the cause of these symptoms.
However, last week on Wednesday I sent my scans to Dr. Charlie Teo - a renowned and an amazing Neurosurgeon! His staff called me within a day and a half of receiving my scans and booked me in to discuss operating on the tumour.
He is 1 of 4 neurosurgeons to operate on this type of tumour - it's one of the riskiest surgeries to be performed because this little sucker is right in the middle of my head!
But this wonderful gift of Dr. Teo comes at a cost - approximately $110k!
I'm meeting him in November (the 15th) and it is likely he will operate the very next day. The funds I'm aiming to raise will cover the cost of the surgery and hopefully the post-op accommodation in Sydney that I will need for about a week (as I'm unable to fly back home).
And this is where I'm asking my beautiful friends, family and kind strangers for some help and play a vital part in my journey back to health.
