Cosmo's back

Cosmo Trikes is a 19-year old second-year student at Michigan Technological University (MTU), pursuing a double-major in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.  On Saturday, December 15, 2018, he and a few friends decided to take a much-needed break from studying for exams and went skiing at Mont Ripley.  After a few runs down the hill, Cosmo tragically fell while attempting a jump. The fall broke his back and paralyzed his legs. Cosmo underwent emergency surgery with Dr. Paul LaHaye, M.D., at Marquette General Hospital, who stabilized his spine with rods and screws.  While the surgery was successful, Cosmo has not yet been able to move his legs.  His brain, wits, and humor remained intact.

Cosmo has met this challenge with remarkable tenacity and is charting his progress on Instagram @cosmocantdie.  His unique humor and outlook on life is infectious and inspiring.  He will be attending rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago while continuing his studies at MTU.  He is also determined to continue with his cooperative position at Kimberly-Clark, which position is scheduled to begin this May.

Cosmo is an adventurous individual who enjoyed exploring the Keweenaw Peninsula while at MTU.  He has a passion for body-building and competed in many competitions, including “The Arnold” in 2017.  He is smart and resolute in continuing his path, albeit with some modifications.

Cosmo and his family have given much to their community, and now they need your help to ensure that this remarkable young man can continue his successes without financial impediment.  He hopes to change lives with his work.  Let’s make sure that this is just a “bump in the road.”  Thank you.
