Correcting Bad Implants

Donation protected
In 2014, we discovered an infection in the jawbones of my face that slowly started causing sepsis and damage to other areas of my body. We had to move quickly, and before long, I underwent surgery in November 2014 to have dental implants drilled into my jawbones after the damaged sections of bone had been removed.

Unfortunately, the original doctor placed the screws too close together. This issue has caused the bones between the screws to be weak and lacking in structure. The screws themselves are actually mobile and have failed completely and must be replaced. If they are not replaced, more bone will be lost and eventually, there will no longer be a treatment for this situation. There is also a risk of the damaged bone becoming infected once more, landing us back at square one.

To repair the damage, the new doctor will need to take out all four bottom screws and will need to replace them with four new ones in the bottom jaw. The top jaw will also need two screws to be added in the back to help give it more stability. Besides that, the top jaw is mostly okay for the time being; should it become an issue, we can come back and treat that at a much later date. This condition is not one that can simply be solved with a normal pair of dentures. The structure and shape of my mouth is not compatible with any other treatment, and malnutrition has become quite the issue as of late.

To get this procedure done, I will need help to raise the $17000 needed to pay for the removal and replacement of the screws. This amount should cover all medical costs, including nutrition (this is already an issue, but will get worse), the treatment, medication, and any other surprise costs that may show up.
We were hoping to have this surgery done by Spring Break, but with the medical bills already stretching things thin, we will need all the help possible in order to get this taken care of. I am a full-time college student. My other illnesses have eliminated my ability to do both school and a job, so I am unable to raise the money myself through such. I am also deaf and have two cochlear implants.
