Cooper's Campaign

Can we just totally ignore the word Crohn’s for a minute? Can we just pretend it doesn’t exist and that it doesn’t change lives? How about that it doesn’t need constant, high dollar and harmful IV drugs and painful procedures just to keep it at bay from totally destroying your digestive system? Can we forget the extreme pain it causes, repeat ER visits at all hours and long hospital stays to control symptoms and its relentless spread? Or how it causes families to cry, people to pray to God to just stop it, siblings to worry and explain to friends what it is, missing school and difficult friendships, interrupted parties or family outings, sleepless nights and hard days...Long, long days trapped inside with worry and pain.

Can. We. Just. Pretend…Cooper and Angel and Grace don’t have this monster of a disease??

No, No we can’t. And here we are, asking for your help to share this burden in any way you can. Yes, there is medical insurance (private and Medicaid) that covers some costs. But there is not insurance to cover huge deductibles, gas, parking fees, over the counter multiple medications and creams and lotions, homeopathic vitamins, oils and treatments that might help, organic food and milk, medical cannabis at $300-$400/month out of pocket for pain, meals on the go, and everyday expenses that are just….well…crazy! Medicaid’s premium alone is $300/month PLUS the family's regular insurance premium! County waivers are in place, too, every dollar fought for and often too little and running out before the year runs out.

Cooper’s parents have been reluctant for years to ask for help (this C word was diagnosed when Cooper was 3, Angel in her early 20s, and Grace just this year at 15) Cooper’s Crohn’s is in addition to Downs, open heart surgery history complete with a pacemaker, and alopecia). They have been reluctant because Make-A-Wish gifted their family a trip to Disney and then Dad and Grandma broke the bank (a few piggy banks too) for a Disney cruise. This gave their family some sense of normalcy, a respite from medical reality, and they got to see the Coopster smile in between frequent rests and breaks for pain and fatigue.

So, hey, we are finally asking anyway. And, we are hoping to give them some funds to curtail astronomical costs during this latest disease progression and very long inpatient stay.

THANK YOU for everything. Thank you for the prayers. And thank you for any donation today and next month and maybe the month after that. Can you just put us on your Bill Pay schedule? (JK) Thank YOU!!!
