Contra Cruise Scholarship

Tom Woods and Bob Murphy host a weekly podcast, Contra Krugman , which is dedicated to exposing the errors of Paul Krugman's weekly New York Times article.

The Contra Cruise is a week-long gathering of fans and friends of the show hosted aboard a cruise ship. It's the most fun week of the year, according to Tom.

The event, like all cruises, is kinda pricey, particularly for young people who have to deal with living and school expenses or otherwise can't afford to go.

Last year, for the Contra Cruise 2017 event, an anonymous benefactor funded passage for four young (under 30) people to attend the event. Bob and Tom funded another two. It was called the "Contra Cruise Scholarship", and was open to anyone from 21 to 30. Winners were selected by way of a video submission .

These six people enhanced the experience of the others on the cruise to an extent that others committed to contribute to next year's cruise scholarship fund.

For the 2018 Contra Cruise, this GoFundMe campaign has been established as a way to raise money to send others who otherwise couldn't afford to attend the cruise.

We are targeting $1,500 per winner to attend the event. This includes passage on the cruise, plus a flat stipend to help defray travel to and from San Diego. We are targeting to get four winners on board, but if we can raise more money, we can accept more.

Tom and Bob are working on a contest and will announce it on their blogs and podcasts, but we need to start raising money so they can get a rough idea of how many winners to choose.
