Saturday Morning, May 5th, 2018 Jason woke up short of breath. We didn't think anything bad was going but went to the walk-in at our local office. The walk in doctor listened to his heart, lungs and did an EKG. She immediately told us to go to the ER. We drove down the Metro Health Hospital and was roomed right away. They did a cat scan and xrays. The cat scan showed bilateral pneumonia (the ER doc said hes never seen someone with an pneumonia so bad still walking and not looking sick at all). At this point Jason was still laughing and joking with the docs about his terrible veins. They had a plan to move him upstairs to a regular room once they had the IV antibiotics going. They started the IV and made the room arrangements Fast forward 10 minutes later. He turns white as ghost (literally I've never seen an alive person this color). We pushed his call button but nobody was coming. 5 minutes pass and he starts feeling nauseous, getting paler by the second. He says to me "Help. I think I'm dying" His BP dropped to 50/41 and I booked it out to find someone ASAP. I finally find someone and they come in. Next ting I know7 people, doctors, nurses, crowding everywhere. One nurse brings in the crash cart and says "not to scare you but this for precautionary measures" What feels like eternity goes by and more and more doctors are crowding the room. The main doctor says "She needs to get out of the room" as he points to me and then I go blank. Tears start flowing, my ears are ringing. I don't even know whats going on. I walk out to the hallway and people are coming up to me asking questions and I just freeze.  I must have started getting pale because someone shook me and said, "ma'am you need to sit down" I cant hear anything that's going on, I remember an EMT coming up to me and hugging me and saying it looks like I need it. But that's all. 20 minutes later we are rushing to the ICU to have a central line placed, they tell me I cant go in the room and that someone will come get me when they're done. What feels like eternity goes by and someone comes out and says they're having issues geting the line placed but they didn't want me getting worried (yeah, right?) They FINALLY come get me and say I can come see him. His stats are still low, hes really reaalllyyy sick. The doctor comes with the news that the type on pneumonia he has is very rare (Legionella Pneumonia) and his heart is really weak. They started rambling on about heart transplants and heart failure and how he might not make it out of the hospital and i lose it. Anyways, back to Jason. They decided to transfer him to the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Downtown because they have more ways to save him in the case that something happens. At least he will be in the right place IF that happens. He was brought into the ICU, so many doctors, pokes, prodding, more xrays, MRI of the heart, heart cath, you name it, they did it. Buzzers going off, beeping and nurses bugging him all night. He was in ICU for 2.5 days and they he was transferred to a regular room in the heart center. This is where the real diagonisis comes in. THE DIAGNOISIS: Bilateral Legionella Pneumonia Congestive Heart Failure caused from the infection EF of 20% (The heart should be pumping out 55% of what it brings in but his is only at around 20%) Dilated left Ventricle (probably also caused from the infection Enlarged Heart Congenital heart defect (we have to have Zeke checked for this as well) We are setting up this go fund me because we need help. We arent the one who typically as for help, but this time we need it. Jason is out only income (I have been a SAHM for 2 years now) and I just started school. Without his income we wont have enough to cover our bills, the medical bills, food, gas for the car. While I am looking for a job, I don't have many skills so finding one that pays well with health benefits is going to be difficult. Jason has not lost his job as they are working with us to come up with a plan, but he will be out of work for some time. If you can donate (or even if the only thing you can offer is a prayer) to help our family, I cant thank you enough. Our whole world has been flipped upside down and so we are pretty much starting fresh. Please pray, send good thoughts, and share this as much as possible. Thank you everyone so much.
