Help 4 yr old Connor terminally ill

Donation protected

My lifelong friend Rob Hales needs as much help as we can give him.  Rob is originally from Kamloops and now lives in Calgary.  Almost 2 years ago his 2.5 year old son Connor was diagnosed with AML type Leukemia.  An extremely rare form of cancer, the oncologists barely had any past cases to refer to for stats and probabilities.  Every treatment imaginable was done for Connor and this past summer we thought we were in the clear.  In November, however, the leukemia was back.  After all the tests confirmed, the doctors gave the news we had all been dreading.   There are plans in the works for him to go into palliative care and then a respite home for his final days in what we anticipate to be this January.

One can only imagine the financial toll it would take to be with your child in the hospital every day and night for over a year.   They have a daughter Sadie to care for still, who is 6 now.  They have gone through so much in the past 2 years,  keeping Sadie aware of why Connor needs more attention and still spending time with her.   Rob and Tanya are model parents and I think the world of them.  He is off work again while he arranges for the funeral and spends as much time with his family as he can in these final stages.

I am asking for everyone's help financially so he doesn't at least have that added stress.  Every little bit helps.  The money will be used for him for the funeral, to help for the debt that has accumulated the past 2 years, counselling for the family, and for not forcing him back to work right away so he can mourn his son properly.  No parent should ever outlive their child, this is the least we can do for him and his remaining family.  It took us a lot of convincing for Rob to even be comfortable enough for us to do this.  He didn't like the feeling of asking for public 'help'.  He is very humble and doesn't want a hand out, but if anyone deserves the help it is absolutely them.

This campaign has been organized by friends and family with permission to use information and photos.  Any surplus that the family feels they don't need is going to be donated back to the Calgary Childrens Hospital. Thanks in advance for the help and taking the time to read this.  We greatly appreciate all gestures of help for them.  Please share this!
