Connie Jonett's Medical Fund

Connie Jonett, mother, wife and educator, has been diagnosed with Alpha-1 Anti-Trypsin Deficiency. After retiring from a long and distinguished teaching career in spring of 2015, Connie's health has steadily deteriorated.
Approximately 15 percent of adults with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency develop liver damage (cirrhosis) due to the formation of scar tissue in the liver. Individuals with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency are also at risk of developing a type of liver cancer called hepatocellular carcinoma.
Connie is currently awaiting a liver transplant to restore her health. While she waits for an available donor, medical bills continue to mount. Many expenses have been incurred that are not covered by Connie's health insurance, placing a dire financial and emotional burden on the family.
At Connie's request, half of all funds will go to the University of Wisconsin - Madison/UW-Health organ transplant program. This selfless act is indicative of the character of this lady who gave so much to her school and community over a 30+ year teaching career.
The need is dire. Medical bills continue to come in and as the holidays approach, the pressures on the family continue to grow. This fund is being set up by Connie's family and friends as a way to give back to a selfless, loving and dedicated educator, mother, wife , grandmother and friend.
A donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. Through the many years of teaching in central Wisconsin, Connie has had the opportunity to touch many lives with her wisdom, compassion and humor. Together, we can now give back to this wonderful woman who gave all of us so much.
