CONJURE: The True Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit. CONJURE is a documentary that our community needs to see, feel, and be a part of. Its purpose is to embolden us to rebuild from the inside out, and recalling our power is the first step.
This story follows the development of what we call rootwork, hoodoo, and conjure- the expression of African Traditional Religion that developed in the southeast United States during the era of enslavement. The story attempts to start at the beginning and explain how black women in America are finding out about the ways of our grandmothers and reviving a spirituality that has been all but lost.
We will be using your contributions to pay for a 4K camera, travel to interview all the wonderful women who have agreed to participate, a computer, hard drive, and editing software, just to name a few.
