Computers for the blind in Ghana!!

Can you imagine being one of 200 blind students in a school of 1500 students in Ghana, Africa? Having a disability like vision loss is a challenge in the western world with all our support systems, but in Africa, a disabilty is often a life sentence to being marginalized. But it doesn't have to be!  We have gathered and refurbished computers and CCTV magnifiers so the Wenchi Secondary school in Ghana can provide their blind students with access to the same educational materials as their sighted peers, and access to the internet which means access to the world!  Yes, blind people can use computers with the help of audio screen reading software and we have sent that along too! We have the opportunity to actually set up an entire computer lab in Ghana for these students and change their capacity for learning! The only thing we need is funding to cover the cost of shipping.  $2000 will get computers, monitors, cables, CCTVs and other adaptive aids to the school. We did it last year but with just the tech you see in the photo and they were so incredibly grateful. This year we have gathered even more adaptive equipment. This year we can make sure no one, not even a blind child in the middle of Africa, is cut out of the human family.  Providing this technology and enabling blind students there to demonstrate their capacity is the first step in transforming cultural taboos around blindness and other disabilities.
