Community Cats of Belize - TNR Las Flores Colony!
Around the world, ‘Trap, Neuter & Return’ programs are one of the most effective and humane ways to manage cat populations within a specific community and the same can be true for Belize!
The logic is that by spaying & neutering all the cats in a local cat colony, the population stabilizes and you can reduce the cycle of unnecessary suffering many of these cats and kittens experience. 
I believe longterm change for animal welfare in Belize will start through direct citizen action and education within Belizean communities. Trap, Neuter, Return programs are the perfect opportunity to apply this philosophy.
That's why I've already started doing this work in my own neighborhood. So far, I've been able to get 5 cats from the colony neutered but to have the biggest longterm impact, all the colony cats will need to be TNR'd quickly to prevent repopulation. My most recent survey puts the population at approximately 25 cats.
Females will be prioritized but the goal is to include males, as well.
The more cats we can help, the better the overall success of the campaign.
A female cat can be spayed for US$50
A male cat can be neutered for US$30
The campaign math is simple:
For US$500, 10 or more cats
For US $750, 15 or more cats
For US $1000, 20 or more cats
Any additional money raised will be utilized to TNR 'walk-ins', additional critical medical treatment and to initiate a community awareness campaign about TNR programs.
