Just before Thanksgiving, Eva began experiencing severe abdominal pain and went to the emergency room in Houston. She remained there for over 24 hours while multiple tests and imaging studies were performed. Despite her ongoing pain, she was discharged and sent home.

Her condition worsened.

On November 26, she traveled to Mexico to seek further medical care. Upon arrival, she was immediately hospitalized and diagnosed with complicated acute appendicitis with a pelvic abscess. She underwent emergency surgery that same day.

Her surgeon told her she was very fortunate to be alive.

Her appendix had ruptured, and her body had formed a contained abscess — essentially creating a natural barrier that prevented the infection from spreading throughout her abdomen and bloodstream. Without that containment, she could have developed sepsis (blood poisoning), which can be life-threatening.

Eva remained hospitalized and recovering in Mexico until January 18, 2026. During that time, she was unable to work and lost income. She has since returned to work, but the financial impact of emergency surgery, hospitalization, medications, travel, and lost wages has been significant.

In addition, Eva has been advised that she will need hip surgery in the near future. When that procedure takes place, she will again need time off for surgery and rehabilitation.

We are starting with a goal of $15,000 to help cover:

• Emergency surgery and hospitalization costs

• Follow-up medical care and medications

• Lost wages during her recovery

• Basic living expenses

• Preparation for upcoming medical needs

Eva does not have medical insurance coverage to offset these costs, and the financial burden has been overwhelming.
