I am raising money to help my mother
My dear 89 year old Mom is where she wants to be - still in her own home. But that home is a 3 hr round trip from where I live in Los Angeles. I deeply wish to be able to visit her regularly and bring her some little bits of joy. And I need your help.
Those of you that know Rosemary, know what an elegant and lovely person she is. She has always been supportive funny, encouraging and so generously spirited.
Rosemary is blind now and 90 % deaf. She was a HUGE reader and crossword puzzler but now she can't do either. She is sometimes confused from her Dimentia and frightened by the darkness.
On last visit, I put headphones on her and she could hear through them and became CALM as she listened. Just before that she had been quite distressed, She relaxed. Listening to easy classical music and British mysteries on Audiobooks. "I love this so much" she told me. I can't tell you how it made me feel to be able to relieve some of her anxiety and briefly quiet her confused thoughts.
Good news: her sense of smell and taste are 100 % - and sSo I would also like to make her the all-time favorite recipes I know she loves and take them up to her on my visits. (i.e. Hungarian Goulash!)
Rosemary has a care-taker now but it's not the same as family. PLEASE help me make Rosemary's existance in her isolated location more bearable. Easier.
I believe just these three things would make her last years more pleasant, perhaps even bring some joy:
a) Visits from family, b) favorite foods, and c) something to occupy her days (Audiobooks and music).
I am launching this campaign to:
1) Rehabilitate my car so it can make the 3 hr round trip reliably and often
2) Get Rosemary some quality headphones/earbuds and an Ipod
3) Help pay for the costs of downloading Audiobooks.
4) Partially fund Gas/fuel (it's 90 miles one way!) and a little help with the cost of her favorite foods
Any and ALL donations will go DIRECTLY toward her care and comfort.
It would mean so much to me, and the world to her. She will know that all of you have made it possible and I could not be doing it without you!
