Colton getting ready to direct CMU Marching Chips, wearing number 21 in honor of Derrick Nash, for the win over Miami University.
I'm writing in support of my grandson, Colton Odykirk who will be going through a kidney transplant come the 2019 year. As a student-athlete at Central Michigan University, he was diagnosed with having a kidney disease called Glomerulonephritis. This disease forced Colton to miss his junior year of football. After a year off, Colton’s blood counts stabilized and he was able to return to the game of football to finish his senior year and football career where at the end of the year he was awarded the Kurt Dobronski award, as chosen by his teammates. During this period Colton finished his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Soon after graduation Colton then accepted a job in Colorado. It wasn’t until October 2018 when Colton needed to start dialysis as his kidneys were no longer functioning on their own. At this time we are waiting on the date of his surgery to take place sometime in early 2019. After which, Colton will be in full recovery and off work for around 3 months.
