College Movie Festival expenses

The College Movie Festival is a Cincinnati-area student filmmaking competition, educational event, and networking opportunity...but mostly the CMF is a celebration of the filmmaking talent that resides in the media programs throughout the region.
The Process: For two weeks during the spring semester local film students, with oversight from their professors, create filmmaking teams and write, shoot and edit short narrative movies. Those movies are reviewed as works-in-progress by local filmmaking professionals who meet individually with the student filmmakers and provide project feedback - and valuable networking opportunities. The students then refine their work for a week. The final movies are screened at a local movie theatre where a panel of professional judges and the audience select their favorite movies.
The Origination: The festival began from an idea that occurred simultaneously to professors at Cincinnati-area colleges as we recognized the growth in our professional filmmaking community, but also in our media programs. Students from Cincinnati State, Xavier, Miami, NKU, The University of Cincinnati, UC Blue Ash, UC Clermont, the Ohio Media School, and Morehead University participate, depending upon the year.
The Need: We strive to keep this a free event for all involved, with volunteers, donations and sponsorships from area media companies and movie houses covering some costs, but most of the expenses are covered by the professors themselves. While we keep our expenses to a minimum, our web hosting, vote tabulation infrastructure and basic overhead does generate costs that must be covered. For this, we seek assistance.
The Ask: The College Movie Festival would like to create a fund that will not only cover our meager infrastructure costs, but will potentially provide refreshments for students and professionals at our One-on-One with the Pros, and maybe cover parking costs. (Like we said, the good will of our and support of our filmmaking community keeps our costs very manageable.)
Our fundraising goal is modest – the goal should cover the next five years of expenses. And if additional funds are generated our goal is not only to continue to be good stewards of the spirit and purpose of the CMF, but perhaps to expand into other aspects of filmmaking – including an event around documentaries and perhaps another dedicated solely to animation.
