Our son, Colin, has been offered the once in a life time opportunity to play in the Peewee Quebec tournament in Quebec City in February 2016. Peewee Quebec is one the largest and most prestigious youth international hockey tournaments in the world. It draws over 2,250 competitors from 15 different countries and is the centerpiece of Quebec City's Winter Carnival.
Unlike most youth hockey tournament, Peewee Quebec does not occur over just one weekend. This tournament is nine days and affords the players the opportunity to billet with local families,and exposure to playing at the international level , Colin would be making friends from across the world and learning about the culture of Quebec.
Colin is an honors student and is currently attending the Medical Academy at Logger's Run Middle School. He hopes to one day be able to serve his country on an international level as a pilot in the Air Force and later as an epidemiologist specializing in illnesses like Ebola (or an oncologist.) Pee Wee Quebec would allow him to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. This is a lifetime opportunity for him to become intimate with other cultures while he builds relationships across the globe.
This tournament comes with significant costs due to the length, the travel required, and the fees to participate. Over the past year, Colin's dad has sustained two major injuries incurring serious medical bills while being sidelined from work for almost five months.
We would love for Colin to attend this event , as it will give him exposure to kids from across the globe and set the tone for his future international medical career.
