Cohen and his twin brother Ethan were born at 25 weeks 2 days, on 21st February 2015. After many blood transfusions, infections and 3 major surgeries , they were discharged from NICU after a long 128 and 132 days.
Ethan is meeting each milestone expected for a baby of his corrected age, however Cohen is very delayed. He has limited head control and no trunk control. He needs a lot of specialised equipment to try to enhance his development and to help strengthen his muscles. We have been told he may have cerebral palsy, we won't know how severe until he doesn't meet his milestones, and until he grows. This is devestating news for us but we know that Cohen will live his life to the full and considering we planned his and ethans funerals when they were born... We are just so thankful that he is alive, well and has a smile to melt anyone's hearts.
Cohen is a very happy little boy who loves interaction. He enjoys lights and noisy toys, and can blow a pretty amazing raspberry to gain your attention!
He is on home oxygen, has a gastrostomy for feeding as he cannot take any food or milk orally due to a very high palate and vocal chord palsy (his vocal chords were damaged in a pda ligation which saved his life at 35 days old), we don't know if he will ever talk, however he does make noises and is slightly louder than he was.
Any funds raised from this page will be used to purchase any specialised equipment that Cohen needs to develop and grow and to help him fulfill his life to the max, such as car seat, supportive seating aids which are not funded.
