Coach Steve Mayfield Medical Fund

This page has been set up for our dear friend, Coach Steve Mayfield, who is continuing to fight a courageous battle with ALS.  Coach Mayfield was diagnosed with ALS in the fall of 2014 and it has taken a toll on his body rather quickly, as can be expected in most cases. He is also a cancer survivor of nine years and endured chemo and radiation treatments so if you are ever in need of inspiration or want to see a courageous person, just look at Coach Mayfield. For those of you reading this who may not know him personally, this is the guy who would do absolutely ANYTHING for anyone in need. He and his family are great people who deserve our help. He continues to travel to doctors in many different states for medical advice and check ups. There is no cure for this disease but hopefully the doctors will be able to slow down the progression. In the recent months, Coach Mayfield has lost a lot of muscle strength and movement. At this time, the Mayfield home is not equipped for what is needed for his daily care. The money raised on this page will go directly to the Mayfield family to enclose the garage on the main level of their home so that Coach Mayfield will be able to access this area safely and something that will be equipped for his daily needs. As of right now, his bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. He has lost the strength to get up and down the stairs. He only desires to be cared for safely in his home with his family and we want to make this happen for this precious family. Coach Mayfield's health forced him to take an early retirement from his job as a high school teacher and coach so a loan for this construction is not really feasible at this time. Also, a large amount of expense is spent on medical bills, traveling to and from doctors that are hours away, and medication.  If you know this family at all, you know they do not like to ask for help but there are so many people who want to help this family so as friends, we felt like this would be the best way to help. Any amount of money you can donate would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small, every penny counts.
