"Climb-It Change" Documentary
Climate change is such an important issue, more than ever! Please help us spread the word and bring Climb-It Change, our documentary, to life!!! This is the story of researchers Trevor Bloom, MSc and Matt Kneipp as we traverse the entire Rocky Mountain chain investigating the impact of CLIMATE CHANGE and increased WILDFIRES on high elevation environments. Along the way we interview researchers, fire fighters, National Park employees, and climbers to reveal the current and future impacts of climate change in our backyard! We also visit some incredibly amazing places, climb some crazy rocks, and survive a fistfull of crazy adventures...like getting charged by a GRIZZLY BEAR, getting stuck in the SNOW , surviving a viscious FLASH FLOOD , and much more.....you'll see!
PLEASE...Do your part to protect the natural world and pitch in a few bucks to bring our FILM into FRUITION! In a time of tight funding for science, EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR COUNTS, and any donation will be GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED! Thank you!
Climb-It Change has already been accepted into three international film festivals. Help us reach our fundraising goal to enter into more festivals, attend the premiers, and build curriculum around the movie to increase public awareness of climate change....before it's too late.
The Full Story:
Despite the "alternative facts" looming out there, >98% of scientists agree that CLIMATE CHANGE is real, it's happening now, and humans are increasing the rate through increasing emissions of greenhouse gases. CLIMB-IT CHANGE is our prospective documentary, a story of adventure, rock climbing, science, friendship and humility as my research partner, Mathew Kneipp, and I traverse the entire Rocky Mountain chain from New Mexico north to Jasper National Park, investigating the impact of climate change on wildflowers across 76 alpine peaks! PLEASE HELP US BRING THIS FILM TO FRUITION AND INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN OUR BACKYARDS!!!
High elevation ecosystems, including the North Cascades above, are at increasing risk of wildfire and climate change.
The research presented is the foundation of my Masters of Science thesis for the Biology Department of Western Washington University, which I earned this December. With the degree out of the way, I am focusing on the documentary, with the intention of increasing public awareness of climate change, which is happening NOW in our National Parks, National Forests, and backyards!!! We investigate how WILDFIRES have increased in size and frequency, and how high elevation ecosystems are facing the same drastic hardships as Polar Bears in the Arctic. Cold habitats are shrinking and species that exist nowhere else are at increasing risk of extinction, thats a FACT!
Alpine wildflower, the Spotted Saxifrage (Saxifraga austromontana), is experiencing an increased risk of population extinction due to climate change and wildfire.
Please HELP US FUND the production of CLIMB-IT CHANGE, the documentary tale of our journey across the Rockies in the name of climate science. Along the way we rock climb in every state and Canadian Province we visit, interview wildland fire-fighters, National Park scientists , interpretive rangers, professors and wacky climbers! With your help we can get this FILM fully EDITED and ready for competive entry into >35 INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVALS including BANFF and SUNDANCE, show it at SCHOOLS across the Nation, produce DVDs, and GET IT ONLINE to raise maximum public awareness of the tremendous issue of CLIMATE CHANGE....which, believe it or not, is as real as the Earth is round...not Flat. Come on, what year is it?
We got amazing footate of wildlife, such as the Mountain Goat, which are also heavily affected by climate change.
CLIMATE CHANGE IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE, PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD AND BRING CLIMB-IT CHANGE, THE DOCUMENTARY, TO LIFE! Do your part to protect that natural world and pitch in a few bucks, anything is so GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED! Mahalo!
