Cliff Brody Memorial Fund

My name is Dana Walters, and I have created this campaign for our dear friends Jody Brody, and her daughter Eliza to help pay for the significant and many expenses incurred.

Jody's husband Cliff was diagnosed with the extremely rare Signet Ring Cell Adenocarcinoma of the colon just one week after their daughter started her first year of college on 9/15/17. He tolerated and endured an initial 5 continuous months of chemotherapy, followed by 6 weeks of proton therapy combined with the same chemotherapy.

In July 2018, a "stable" tumor was removed providing hope for his prognosis. Complications required a second full surgery 2 weeks later and another abdominal surgery in September resulting in a catastrophic event which began a four-month journey in the hospital and acute rehabilitation centers. Cliff started these months in the ICU without certainty that he would survive. Over the following 4 months he returned to the ICU additional times in his battle to wellness enough to receive the necessary lifesaving chemotherapy. Cliff reached his goal just before Christmas this year and was doing well after receiving 2 doses of chemotherapy.

Sadly, prior to being transferred to a rehabilitation center in order to continue chemotherapy and begin immunotherapy, Cliff suffered another catastrophic event that left him with end-stage kidney failure. Our good friend Cliff passed away 1/21/19 with Jody and Eliza by his bedside holding his hands after such a strong fight. Cliff was truly a warrior throughout all of this and in life.

Cliff was an avid athlete, excelling in soccer, tennis, swimming, basketball, and frisbee. He loved music and had an encyclopedic knowledge of song lyrics. He found great joy in nature: bird watching; building a beautiful garden, gazebo and pond; and vacationing at the beach in Cape Cod.  He was invigorated by a good debate about pretty much anything and had much fun brilliantly winning at almanac trivia. He as a devoted husband to Jody and adored Eliza never missing a dance recital, sports event or walking from the finish line to the boathouses after her race in a regatta.  Cliff cherished and was cherished by his extended family and friends. He was able to affect so many people's lives throughout this struggle and his whole life lifting the spirits of many with a positive attitude when his own was challenged.  He will be greatly missed.  Thank you for your support!
