CJLO Funding Drive 2018

CJLO 1690 AM is Concordia University's campus radio station - 100% non-profit, and run almost entirely by volunteers; the station is located in the heart of the Loyola campus in the NDG borough of Montréal. Our on-air personalities are the backbone of the station, and there are approximately 70 shows on the air.
Every year, CJLO holds a Funding Drive to raise money for equipment upgrades and initiatives. Fundraising is essential in order to allow students and community members to use CJLO as a platform, and properly teach our members the necessary skills to branch out and work on their own projects.
CJLO is so much more than radio. We provide training in podcasting, audio production, and news, just to name a few. Our volunteers contribute to the CJLO community by writing show reviews for our online magazine, assisting at events, organizing the music library, helping set up for live sessions, and producing on-air content such as advertisements and public service announcements. We accept volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, and students of all disciplines - we believe the skills learned at CJLO can be integrated into all aspects of life, and can only assist those looking into a career in media or broadcasting.
This year, the station is hoping to raise 5000 dollars to fund equipment and upgrades for a second production booth. By creating a second studio, this will allow Concordia students and community members more access and availability to the equipment and tools needed for their projects. Currently, our production studio is often booked for live sessions and newscasts, making it hard to use for training and small production projects. We plan to build a small space to also share with our Loyola neighbours and The Concordian, to better serve their needs and to foster collaboration.
Every dollar we receive from our Funding Drive goes back into the station to better serve the students and the greater Montreal community.
