HELP LIZZIE TAKE C IS FOR COMPASSION TO CUBA!
My name is Elizabeth Knox but please, call me Lizzie.
I’ve created this GoFundMe campaign to raise money to take C is for Compassion to Cuba (¡ C is for Cuba !) to photograph and interview the cancer community and continue to raise awareness of what it means to live with this devastating disease.
My goal is to continue to raise funds for flights, accommodations, translation and editing photos and interviews of cancer support groups in Havana with the medium-term goal of organizing a photo exhbition / multi-charity fundraiser in Montréal, Canada.

Sharing stories of fellow cancer survivors (and their supporters) is a cause very dear to me. In April, 2007, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In August, 2013, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer (breast cancer cells had spread to bones throughout my body).
The compassion and care I've received from my cancer peers (I call them my “cancer posse”), art therapy programs, weekend cancer retreats and other support groups and gatherings over the past decade have been critical to me.
Sharing the stories of survivors and supporters:
Shows people what it means to live with cancer and motivates them to financially support (through sponsorships or individual donations) or to volunteer (or otherwise advocate) for support groups and activities;
Assures and encourages people newly diagnosed with cancer to seek out support groups and activities and/or create their own;
Validates and reinforces what we cancer survivors and our supporters know too well, that it takes a village to support a cancer survivor. It takes a community.
The money raised by caring people like you will help pay for transportation, room and board, translation, editing and sharing the results with the people of Cuba and those here in Canada. I’d happily pay for it all myself if I could but my condition makes it impossible for me to be gainfully employed. (Regardless, all my time photographing and conducting interviews for C is for Compassion ~ including ¡ C is for Cuba ! ~ is donated.)
