My first piano

Hello Family, Friends, and Followers,

After 4.5 years of hard work at the keys, I have been blessed with an amazing gift and unique opportunity.

MY OPPORTUNITY

Just 2 weeks ago, I was accepted to the Colburn Music Academy in Los Angeles (beginning August 27!) where I plan to pursue my passion for the piano. The program is for gifted young musicians age 10-18 who display exceptional talent and promise.

I am blessed to be one of 25 students in the world to be accepted into this prestigous program. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me (at age 16) to be part of a full-time music college experience with a comprehensive curriculum taught by world-renowned faculty. The school helps develop students as well-rounded musicians, and includes music theory, ear training, voice, and a vigorous chamber music program. In this program I will be surrounded by many others like myself.

MY STORY

God gave me an incredible passion for classical music just 4.5 years ago — and in response, I want to develop the skills He has created in me to glorify Him through professional piano performance, and ultimately a professorship where I may teach and train others to know the joy that I have.

It all began in a music appreciation class I took in junior high, which inspired great desire to learn the piano.

Impersonation of Frederich Chopin

In addition, I've worked very hard each year practicing (up to 2,000 hours annually!) and entered an early college program at age 14 so that I could advance my academic and music education.

My second piano. An amazing gift!

I maintained a 4.0 GPA, taking college courses, and continued to pursue my music studies. I've dedicated thousands of hours to practice, projects, study, and competitions. Now my hard work has paid off—and by God's grace, I am one of the few blessed individuals to be part of this school.

Impersonation of Beethoven at the Sunriver Music Festival

My parents and family have sacrificed everything they could to get me to this point, and they will continue to help me as I prepare for this next chapter; however, the program is expensive. I've applied for financial aid towards tuition, and am still awaiting news of a possible award.

However, the Academy does not offer financial aid for room, board, and other expenses in Los Angeles, which are costly (and honestly out of reach for my family).

WHAT I AM DOING TO GET THERE

I've personally saved a few thousand dollars which will go toward this incredible music education opportunity, so I'm committed to taking this journey of faith. I've taught piano in my own studio, in person and via SKYPE. I hope to continue teaching locally in Los Angeles in person and via SKYPE to all who are interested.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

With great humility, I'm asking all those who know me (and all who share a passion for the performing arts), to help me attend The Colburn School, to which I've already been accepted. Your gift will truly "keep on giving" throughout my lifetime and, Lord willing, beyond—as I establish my own career in music performance and education—a joy that I will contagiously share with others the rest of my life!

HOW YOU CAN HELP

1. Please pray for me as I re-locate to Los Angeles, and move away from home. Pray that I will bring glory to the Lord and that my heart will remain set apart for Him. School begins August 27th!

2. I know it's a lot to ask, but I'm asking you to consider making an investment in my future by donating toward my education.
There is no donation too small and every dollar donated gets me one step closer to covering my expenses in Los Angeles, my desire to perform on the concert stage, and to share the joyous gift of music with others.

3. Share this link with anyone that you think would support me in my calling and wants to see the classical arts go on. Sharing this link raises the success rate of my goals greatly!
