Chuck's Open Heart Surgery Fund
As many of you know my Dad, Chuck Day, was admitted into the hospital Thursday night (10/25/18). He was having chest pains, and was concerned that there might be a problem with his heart. After extensive testing on Friday the physician's determined that seven (7) of his arteries were clogged, one of them was clogged 100%. Due to this he is now in the hospital awaiting open heart surgery. He will be having a quadruple bypass surgery the week of October 31.
In 1989 Chuck and Selena stepped out into full time ministry. In doing so they gave up the security and benefits that come with full time work. They have no paid vacation, sick days, or insurance. They rely on the grace of God, and on love offerings everywhere they sing for their income.
Chuck's surgery will put him out of work for an estimated 6 - 8 weeks. This means that he'll be very unlikely to make any of his scheduled ministry dates for the remainder of the year.
As Chuck and Selena's daughter I have had many of the people who have been touched by Chuck's ministry ask how they can help at this time. Myself, and those who love Chuck are asking for that support now. We are asking that friends, family, and brothers / sisters in Christ to support Chuck and Selena during this time of healing.
In Corinthians Paul teaches the Church to take care of one another. To give and support one another especially for the body (Christians) to support the body (other Christians).
Because Chuck and Selena will home bound, unable to travel and make their living we are asking for support in this time of need. Our goal is to raise $7500 to replace the income they will be losing.
This amount does not include the money they'll need to purchase Christmas, or take care of medical expenses. We are believing God to show up and take care of these needs, and we ask that you partner with us to be a part of this blessing for Chuck and Selena.
As we enter week 2 after surgery Chuck is doing a lot better. He is able to get up and walk around, and has even been able to help run errands. Chuck is still getting tired easily and has some discomfort from his surgery but we are sure that God is healing his body.
When speaking with his doctors there was some concern about his white blood cell count being high. Please pray and agree with us that his body will continue to fight infection.
Please continue to pray for Selena at this time too. She is Chuck's primary care provider at home and is taking on a lot in getting him well.
Chuck and Selena are so moved and touched by how generous everyone has been at this time. They can not say THANK YOU enough to each and every one of you who have donated and prayed for them during this process.
Anyone who knows Chuck knows that he can't stand sitting still, and we're glad that he's up and walking but we still need him to rest a little too.
We're happy to say that this extra energy from Chuck gave him the energy to go out and vote on Tuesday.
While he was exhausted when he got home he was really happy to have preformed his civic duty.
We want to thank everyone who has given, and those who continue to share and give to support Chuck and Selena at this time.
Please continue to pray for them as this is only the first step in a long road towards normality.
Chuck is going through a whole life style change as he learns to adapt to a new diet, and his rehabilitation from heart surgery. Please continue to pray for him to have patience for his own recovery. Please feel free to share this page, and any of our posts with your friends and those who have been touched by Chuck and Selena's ministry.
It's been a long hard road in the hospital, but the work is really only just beginning as Chuck and Selena prepare for life after the surgery.
Chuck is doing well, working on strengthening his lungs and body through the exercises which the doctor instructed him on. Working on his exercises is very tiring for him right now. Please continue to pray for strength and healing in his body.
Selena is working on keeping up with Chuck's phone calls, and calendar during this time, along with managing Chuck's new diet and medical needs. Please continue to pray for rest, and strength for her at this time.
In the meantime Chuck's dogs Kudzu and Paisley are very happy that their "dad" is home. Paisley is enjoying sitting with Chuck in his recliner. They're amazing cheerleaders for both Chuck and Selena.
Selena is still going after 3 days in the hospital with no break. Her strength at this time has been amazing.
Please continue to pray for supernatural rest, and comfort for her.
I also wanted to say thank you to our family friends Lisa Harris and Carol Pitts. These two women have been our ROCKS at this time. Lisa drove all the way from Louisiana to be with Chuck and Selena, and has been sleeping here at the hospital with Selena so that she is not alone. Carol has opened her home up to Selena and Lisa when they need showers, and a quick nap. She has also been at the hospital every day to sit with Chuck and Selena and lift their spirits.
Please pray for them as well.
