On September 20th Chris underwent emergency brain surgery and was subsequently diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme grade 4 (GBM). Chris was hospitalized for 12 days and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Following this 6 week course, he will have a month off over the holidays and then continue a second course of chemotherapy.
Chris is co-owner WAK Plastics Machinery. He is an active member of American Legion post 28 in Grand Haven, a member of the Ferris State University Plastics advisory board. Chris also serves as a member of the Heredity Angioedema Assocation HAEA advisory board.
Chris is tremendously proud of his two sons, Nic who recently graduated from CMU and is now pursuing his graduate studies and Ian who is a Junior at MSU with a dual major in computer science and math.
Chris and his wife Kim are the kind of people who are always willing to help out others. They are also two of the most positive "live life to the fullest" folks that you will find! They have approached this challenge thus far with strong will, determination and unwavering hope!
Chris is blessed with Kim and the boy's support as well as that of his 9 siblings. The continued encouragment of family, friends and community allows the Whalens to remain positive and optimistic for the future of Chris' treatment plans. The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to assist with medical expenses. We thank you for supporting the Whalen family!
