Repairing Our Christ Window

In 1928, the beautiful sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Costa Mesa was dedicated. It was the first church in the city, and for the last 90 years has been a place of worship, service and celebration for the people of Costa Mesa.
On February 9th, 2016, the Christ window at First United Methodist Church of Costa Mesa was badly damaged by an act of vandalism. The window, original to the sanctuary depicted Christ, standing at the doors of the sanctuary, welcome all people. For decades couples have chosen to have thier wedding pictures taken in front of the beautiful window. The vandal broke through the protective outer glass window, striking a brick just to left of the face of Christ. Pentegrams were found marked on the exterior windows.
When the sad word of the damage to this historic window was made known through the local press, we received countless words of support and concern from community memebers. Today, we want to invite you to help us repair the window with a contribution of any size. In order to repair the window, it will have to be removed from the sancturary, repaired by an artist who is an expert in historic staiend glass repair. The exterior protective window will also have to be replaced.
We know that so many people were saddened by this loss to our community. We want to invite our friends and neighbors to help us restore this window. The congregation of First United Methodist Church is so grateful for your support, prayers and, if you are able, your gifts to help us repair this piece of our beautiful sanctuary.
