Hello Everyone. This is a fundraiser for my younger sister Chrissy Storey and her children Joseph (age 21) and Alana (age 20). Early morning on November 13th, the house my sister and children were renting caught on fire in the laundry room. The Fire commissioner has said it was an electrical fire due to the dryer. The house did not have working fire alarms, (which my sister did not realize until it was too late) and luckily my sister was awoken by the light from the fire. She woke her 2 kids and they rushed out with the clothes on their backs, as the fire had quickly spread to the adjoining kitchen. They were able to rescue 3 family pets, but 2 cats were unable to be rescued. My sister is on a fixed low income, and had not purchased fire insurance. Both kids have full time jobs and they were working hard as a family to move forward when this tragedy struck. The fire destroyed the house and all contents completely. Not only has this been terribly hard on them mentally, the financial stress is a large burden. Red Cross has provided them with vouchers for some clothing and food, and is looking for a place for them to rent. They are currently safe and staying at our other sisters house, which due to space is only temporary. Chrissy is not asking for charity, but I have started this page in the hopes that people that ask me what they can do to help, have a way to. I cannot imagine the financial burden of not only clothing and personal items being replaced, but every single belonging they owned being destroyed. From the deep freezer of frozen food, to beds, bedding, towels, winter boots, coats, phones, computer, TV etc. I know these are all only "things" and I am thankful every minute that they got out unharmed. I just want to help them get back on their feet. I thank you so much for reading this, and please feel free to leave any positive comments, I will be putting them on a card for Chrissy and her family when the fundraiser is completed.
