CHRIS WILL CONQUER

Hello Friends and Family, near and far.
On May 6th, 2018, there was a knock on the door of Gloria and Marshall Corral’s home. A parent’s worst nightmare is to open the door to see a Police Officer on the other side. “Are you the parents of Chris Corral? There has been an accident.”

Chris Corral, who is known to his family by Osh (a nickname given to him by his mom, Gloria), is the life of the party. He can make everyone smile with his mere presence and can easily make anyone burst into hysterics with one gesture or facial expression. He is the youngest of 5 siblings, and proud parent of 2 children, Lexi (23) a recent College graduate from McDaniel University in Maryland and Christopher (10) who is inseparable from his dad. Chris was a star athlete in high school, where he played football and wrestled at Cholla High School. He became a key player as a Wide Receiver while playing football for the University of Arizona Wildcats from 1990-1994 also known as the Desert Swarm era. Chris was just celebrated by his employer for reaching a milestone of 19 years of service with Mesa Fully Form.
Gloria and Marshall, who have lost 3 children in the last 6 years, were devastated to hear of Chris’s accident and rushed to his side. Not knowing what had happened or the extent of Chris’s injuries; only to learn as soon as they arrived, Chris had broken his neck, hip, ribs and leg. His neck injury so bad, doctors compared it to a decapitation without actually breaking the skin. Chris was scheduled for surgery right away. Upon further testing, it was determined a Halo apparatus would be the best route to go and will show a better recovery prognosis. Chris was in a medically induced coma for 7 days. His breathing was compromised due to his broken ribs, so he was also on a breathing machine to help build his lung capacity and help heal the bruising his lungs had sustained. On May 13, 2018, Chris was removed from the breathing machine and instantly recognized those in the room. Seeing him open his eyes and utter the words “Hi Mom” was the best feeling among all of us. Tears of joy filled the room, even the nurses could not hold back their excitement. Chris is a miracle, he has shown mobility in his legs, arms and has already started some physical therapy. Doctors have said they could count on one hand the number of survivors they see come through an accident like this one. Chris was moved out of critical ICU and is now working on getting moved to a physical therapy treatment center, where he will work on his arm motions, and walking. Chris’s determination and tenacity to get better and recover is evident in his daily motivation to move more and participate in the therapy regimen given to him by the staff. He reassures us all, every day, “I will be ok, I will get better, I will BE better”Chris will need some help, along with his family, to cover medical expenses not covered by his insurance. This is where you, our friends and family, are being called upon. It is unknown the final expense that he will incur, which is expected to be quite a bit, as medical bills often are. The funds being raised will go directly to Chris’ medical bills and treatments. The last thing his family wants is for him to worry about money or how his family will pay for his medical expenses. We want him to focus on his recovery. We are hopeful this will help alleviate that burden.
We as a family, are organizing this GoFundMe for Chris and his family. Chris is so much more than our Son, Brother or Uncle, he is our hero, our best friend and the light of our lives. Chris is loved by all who know him and the love and support he has received thus far has truly amazed us all. The prayers being said are being heard and the love being shown is without a doubt being felt. We thank you for your time and donations.
