Kitty Surgery

Hello everyone! My name is Melissa!
I was abandoned by my cat mommy because I was the runt of the litter. I was placed into a humane society shelter and when I was two months old I was put up for adoption. A sweet couple noticed me as I was being placed into my kennel and the woman picked me up. Being a fiesty little kitten I swatted at her face with all my might. She on the other hand laughed and gave me little scratches on my head and in a matter of hours I was going to my new home with that strange couple who were now my mommy and daddy! They even had a big sister for me to play with!

I've always been a tiny little kitty, weighing only a little more than two pounds at two months. Now I am sitting at about seven pounds and I will be turning three years old this June. . . But despite being small I have a HUGE personality! I love loud people and huge crowds. Whenever there is a huge party at our house I'm always the social butterfly, curling onto people's laps and demanding attention and pets. My favourite toy is a yellow plush dolphin and I love to eat!
A little too much though according to my mommy and daddy.
Like many other cats I have a disorder called 'pica' where I essentially eat items that aren't considered food. Plastic bags, ribbon, string, toys and my favourite, cardboard and paper. My mom and dad have had to deal with many issues because of my taste for inedible 'food' with me getting sick or even one day having to wait for a ribbon to come out the other end! How embarassing for everyone involved.
I seem to have put myself in a bad situation though. After vomiting for a day straight and refusing to eat my mom and dad decided to take me to the vet for some tests. After an x-ray and some blood tests the vet had terrible news for my parents, I have something in my intestines blocking anything from passing through and I would have to undergo surgery. The x-rays, blood test and medications already cost my mom and dad an upwards of $600 and the vet told them that the surgery would cost somewhere between $2000 and $4000 dollars! With one of my parents currently unemployed they are having a hard time figuring out where they are going to be getting this money from to save my life.

That's why we are hoping that you will be able to help me. I'm currently taking several medications in hopes of my body removing the blockage myself, but the radiologist strongly believes I am in need of surgery. There are a lot of risks, I keep throwing up so I am very dehydrated and so my kidneys aren't functioning the way that they should be and so putting me under is very dangerous. But if the medication won't help me the surgery is my only option, and with my parents unable to pay for it completely on their own we are really hoping that you will be able to help us out,
The money would help cover my surgery and any medication I would need during my three week recovery period. Really anything you put forward would be greatly appreciated as if I am unable to get this surgery my parents aren't sure what they will be able to do. They obviously don't want to see me suffering nor do they want to put me down.
So please, help us so that we can get this foreign object out of my intestine so that I can continue being the happy, playful kitten that I am.
