My name is Jaclyn and I’m creating this fundraising campaign on behalf of my best friend, Cody. Last November, on Chicago’s South side, Cody was robbed at gunpoint, shot twice and left for dead. After spending 7 months in the hospital he’s slowly improving but still has a long road ahead of him.
After the police delivered the heartbreaking news, Cody’s dad suffered a stroke and died a week later. Shortly after that, his canine companion of 15 years passed away as well. Through these most challenging of times, Cody keeps a positive outlook on life and remains hopeful that the epidemic of Chicago’s gun violence will turn around. He refuses to let the events of this horrific night crush his spirit or his zest for life.
Due to this tragedy, Cody has not been cleared to return to work. With no set return date, his medical expenses continue to pile up. He has at least 2 more surgeries to go and he still must undergo physical and mental therapy. Cody is the true definition of a survivor and his strength is an inspiration to others!
