Chewie's Story

Meet Chewie. Chewie (short for Chewbacca) is a 2 year old Yorkie who had a rough start in life.

Last Friday, while searching for a place to camp on a deserted dirt road, many miles from the nearest dwelling, we happened upon Chewie. It was 10 pm and freezing. She was scared and badly injured. We managed to coax her to us and got her warm and fed. She managed to poop all over the only pair of jeans Ashley brought with her, but slept in her sleeping bag regardless. 

Chewie is sweet as can be, and I hate to imagine how she ended up where she was, or what would have happened to her that night if we hadn't found her. 

Chewie has now been to the vet, and unfortunately she has two severe breaks in her pelvis. They require massive surgery to place a plate on one end, and remove the head of her femur on the other end. This is a very costly procedure, and we are asking for help to save Chewie. Anyone who knows Ashley knows she could never leave a baby behind.
