Home Renovation for Laura & Cheryl

This fund has been created in an effort to renovate Laura and Cheryl's 1940's home and garden to be better equipped for Laura's wheelchair. Three years ago while Laura and Cheryl were honeymooning in Barbados, Laura mysteriously contracted a spinal infection that paralyzed her lower body and turned their life upside down.
After months of hospitalization and treatment, Laura was stable enough to return home, however their Belmont home was hardly accessible for Laura's motorized wheelchair. While they have managed to have a lift installed, most areas of the house are impossible to navigate, including Laura's garden.
For those of you that do not know Laura and Cheryl personally, you have likely walked by their beautiful garden located in Belmont. Laura's love for her yard and garden is evident. She has transformed their tiny patch of yard to an amazing garden with figs, apples, plums, cherries, blueberries and raspberries, and glorious muscadines. Her neighbors may recall the year she grew tomatoes on the roof or may have stopped to admire the dinner plate dahlias that border Little Graves.
In this remodeling project, Laura and Cheryl hope to build a bathroom she can get into, a roll-in shower, move the washer and dryer from the basement to the main level, renovate the kitchen so that Laura can access the sink and stove-top, and create paths in the garden that are wheelchair friendly.
