When I created Nicholas Academy in 1999, I had no idea that it would be the means by which I would be able to stay home and homeschool my son. At it's peak in 2006, I had become a single mom, but with the help of this website, had been able to still provide a decent life for my son. I'm forever grateful to the hundreds of thousands of visitors that made it possible to achieve the goal I had set when my son was born. My son is grown and finding his own way now and I'm proud of the person he is.
For the past couple of years, I have been a traveler -- some call me a gypsy, some call me homeless -- because Nicholas Academy stopped providing enough income for me to have any type of a permanent roof over my head and watching it all crumble sent me into a state of severe depression. I couldn't see light beyond the darkness and being completely alone added so much weight to the hopelessness.
But then what I believe to be a miracle was sent my way. I made a very special friend who has Aspergers Syndrome. We were so much alike that I wondered if I, too, had a touch of Aspergers.
But where I had already given up on my dreams, he was just beginning to work in ernest on his. Soon, he began to make me believe that if we worked together, we could both accomplish our goals.
We both want a home. I'm so tired of moving every week or two and never knowing where I'll be. At first it was different and awesome and invigorating, but now it's such a struggle. I work so hard on my site just to watch the income steadily go down. I can't survive like this. I need a home and a regular job.
Derick dreams of a home for his family. He wants to help his mom. She suffers from MS and he doesn't know how much time he has left with her. They are travelers like me, just trying to make it in a world that changes with each passing day.
Together we have found the perfect house. It's a 2 to 4 family house that needs renovation and is being sold at an incredibly low price as long as you are a first time home buyer and you can show you have the funds to renovate it.
Derick's family used to build houses. They had a business that went under when the economy crashed. They know how to renovate. This house could be the new beginning for all of us. Two families, one house, prayers answered.
We must show that we have the funds to renovate this house. That's all we need to purchase it. Please help us before someone else finds this house. We really need it.
