Help Support Chase in His Fight Against Cancer!

Chase is 29 years old. He is an amazing boyfriend, a loving son, a goofball brother, a super hero uncle, and a wonderful friend to many. He was recently diagnosed with DSRCT. Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumors.

DSRCT is a rare terminal type of cancer, affecting about only 20 people in the United States each year. It requires a harsher chemo treatment than most cancers, and it can be very aggressive. It can also grow resistant to treatment. The survival rate is not very assuring with a 3-year survival rate at 55%...

But we believe Chase can beat this with the proper treatments, support from his loved ones, and making him as comfortable as possible through this process.

This diagnosis will keep him out of work. Being self employed, he doesn't qualify for unemployment. He won't be able to make any money for the duration of this battle. His treatments will take a minimum of 14 weeks, and that's just for chemotherapy.

We are reaching out to the kindness of others, for financial support to help him keep his apartment, afford food and monthly bills, and to purchase any other supplies he may need along the way.  This battle will be very tough on him, and having some peace of mind financially will be a huge burden off of his shoulders.

Please take the time to look through some pictures of him, sharing his well-known bright smile with his family and friends. A smile we all want to keep seeing for many more years. We love you chase. <3

We got engaged! And we are getting married!
Some of you know we have been in the hospital for the past 2 weeks in New York. Chase's health has taken a decline and have reached a point where Chase either needs hospital care, or hospice care. That has not stopped his drive or his love! He suffered through pain to propose to me across the street from the hospital, and would like to continue with a wedding ceremony. A wonderful charity called Wish Upon A Wedding has agreed to decorate and coordinate the entire process, along with an amazing wedding planner, and multiple different small vendors and shops that have donated their time and resources after hearing our story, to try to give us the best ceremony possible. Because of an unknowing future, we are getting married at the hospital tomorrow, July 10th, 2018 at 2:00pm. We are going to try and live stream the ceremony on Chase's Facebook, so once it is up, share it with everyone, so everyone can be a part of it! The past 2 weeks have been filled with worry and sadness over his prognosis. But we are turning it into a time of celebration and love. This is Chase's final and most important wish, and it means the world to me. We have always made the best of every situation that we come across, and tomorrow nothing will stop us! ❤❤

This will be a quick update as it is not the happiest subject. A recent hospital visit showed Chase has a mass growing in his colon. The mass was causing bleeding initially, and may be slowly bleeding when irritated (passing bowel movements). Because of this mass, Chase can't really do chemotherapy safely. If he tries chemo now, he could risk bleeding even more which could be fatal. They can't really do surgery on the mass because that comes with its own risks and will also make Chase weak and have to heal in a hospital for a while (giving the tumors time to grow and him stuck in a bed eating hospital food). Chase really wants to get married and I am prepared to make that leap with him. We have reached out to a charity to try and make it a reality. Chase doesn't want to lose his hair or risk feeling very sick before that, so he has decided to not do any treatment. Afterwards we might have him go slow on chemo to see if it can do something for him. This has been the most difficult few weeks. We are all in tears with the fear of knowing what may come. Yet despite it, we are trying to live life, we are doing what we can to enjoy each day and share the love in our hearts. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have this man in my life, and i'm wishing for a miracle each day that he doesn't get taken away.

It has been a while since the last update and that is because so much has been going on:

-Chase turned 30 in March!
-Chase finished his liver bead treatments. It will take up to 6 months to know for sure how they are affecting the tumors inside his liver.
-He finished two different chemo treatment plans. Both showed they were not effective against his tumors. As some tumor has spread and gotten a little bigger.
-Because of the stubbornness of his tumors and how resistant they have become to treatment, Chase's oncologist does not believe she can cure his disease. Our list of options has gotten smaller and we were given the talk about quality of life for Chase.
-There are still chemo options for him, but his Dr. believes they will only keep him stable.

Despite all of this news Chase wants to keep fighting. But he also doesn't want to be sick. He wants to try some of the chemo treatments and any clinical trials that are less intensive and have less side effects. That way he can continue his fight while trying to enjoy his life.

We have been actively looking for different options and come Monday we have a lot of phone calls to make. It is coming up on 1 year of his battle and despite all of this his body looks well on the outside. I feel it still has alot of fight in it.

We all want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for always rooting for Chase, for all of the donations we have received, and the overwhelming love and support. It is because of your kindness and love that we were able to get this far. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers because we want to go farther! We still have hope and Chase still has fight in him!

With Love, - Chase, Alexa, Caroline, Amanda, and Jordan

Progress Update:
Chase has gotten his scans after finishing 3 cycles of his new chemo treatments. The scans have shown so far no new tumor growth. There are a few small spots that have lit up on the PET scan but the doctors and radiologists cannot confirm wether those spots are left over tumor, new growth or just inflammation from his last surgery trying to heal.

Plan going forward:
Chase will be having a surgery tomorrow to remove the lymph node growth in his chest that was left behind from the last surgery. It will be a less intense surgery this time around.
After recovery Chase will do one more cycle of chemo and get another scan to evaluate those confusing spots in his abdomen.

Chase will start a special treatment for his liver where he will have radioactive beads put inside that will target his liver tumors directly.

So far it is fairly good news and plans are in motion for his treatments. Chase is feeling pretty good and ready to move forward through all of this and get better. Thank you to everyone who has kept him in their thoughts and prayers and that have been wishing him well through his fight!

Here is a picture of him eating a rootbeer float, with his hair grown back!
