This, unfortunately, is a fight Charlie will face for the rest of his life, which means many more tests and future treatments to keep the tumor in check. The doctors advise he will have this tumor the rest of his life, but there are medical breakthroughs every day, so we remain hopeful. We will continue to pray for a miracle treatment to cure this tumor, but in the meantime, Charlie and his family could use your help and prayers as they face this unexpected journey. Please also pray for other children who are currently facing this same condition that they may find strength in their journey as well.
The funds raised here will go to help offset medical expenses for Charlie's treatments, doctor visits, and specialized formula for the feeding tube Charlie must rely on for a while (approximately $500 per month). Should the amount of funds raised exceed their financial need, Heath and Karen would like to give back to Texas Children's Hospital in the form of new toys for the kids (as one would expect, toys at TCH get worn out pretty quickly).
You can read more about his tumor and Diencephalic Syndrome here:
Dear Heath and Karen I am writing to you on behalf of Mac Keith Press. We are based in the UK and publish books on pediatric neurology . I am writing to ask if you would give us permission to use one or two of the images of Charlie in the chapter mentioning diencephalic syndrome. If this is something you would consider doing please let me know and I will give you more information about it. I hope to hear from you soon. You may email me at udoka at mackeith.co.uk, if you wish. Best wishes Udoka Ohuonu (Ms) Production Manager Mac Keith Press
