Charles Frost Medical/Funeral Fund

$10,125 of $10,000 goal

Our dad is dying. Slowly. He has a fistula and sepsis infection that is preventing him from the surgery to fix the problem. He is too weak to survive the surgery.

Diverticulitis ate a hole in Dad's colon and bladder. This caused the fistula, which an abnormal opening formed between 2 organs. The hole in his large intestine allowed fecal matter into his bladder and body cavity, causing the sepsis infection.  You can read the details on my blog - My Life, Such as it is...

Currently Dad is in hospice care. Room and board is not covered by Medicare or his insurance, just medicine and nursing care.

Dad does not have life insurance. My sister and I do not have the money to cover funeral costs or medical bills. I am a widow with a 10 year old son. My sister and brother-in-law have 2 boys and she is only working part-time. We have taken unpaid time off work to care for Dad and handle the "business" side of illness and death.

If you can help cover some of Dad's expenses, we would be eternally grateful. If you are a friend of Dad's please consider donating money now instead of paying for funeral flowers later on.

For Frosty's Ham Radio buddies - Rachael and I appreciate all our well wishes on my blog and Facebook pages.

We just want to say thank you to everyone who has donated. Thanks to you we have covered the basic funeral costs for Daddy. Any "extra" money will go into our sons' college funds.

More importantly, y'all have shared some amazing stories about Dad that we treasure. We are printing those stories off and saving them for Charlie, David, and Michael to read. His grandsons will have a better idea of who their Poppa was and how many lives he touched.

Dad's Facebook page is memorialized now and we want to encourage you to write about how you knew Dad, how he touched your life, and your adventures with him - whether in high school, college, work, ham radio or overseas.

Visited with Dad today. Hospice called last night saying Dad had gotten worse. He is definitely less responsive. Dad didn't even answer me or the nurse when talked to this morning.

Dad is pretty much the same, still not eating. He is now getting morphine every 2 hours.

Thank you to all who have contributed so generously. Rachael and I are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love for Dad and us.

Frosty gave many of us a new country or a new mode in our Ham Radio hobby. He was an ambassador for the hobby.

Frosty will be greatly missed. He was a mover and shaker among the ham community and, I'm sure, elsewhere.
