Youth of The Diaspora

Hi, my name is Tyokia Harrison, and I’m a facilitator and educator with Youth of the Diaspora—an organization dedicated to providing political education, Africana studies, and transformative study abroad opportunities for youth in Baltimore City.

We believe that every young person deserves access to global learning experiences that are not only affordable but also culturally rooted, relevant, and liberatory. Our students are passionate, bright, and deeply committed to expanding their horizons—but many are facing significant financial barriers.

Several of our students are falling short of their fundraising goals, not because of a lack of effort or desire, but due to economic hardship in their families and a hesitation to ask for help. This GoFundMe was created to bridge that gap—to ensure that those who want to go abroad and need to go abroad are not left behind due to financial obstacles.
