Hailey, a helpless 9-month-old Great Dane/hound, was once a forgotten soul, cruelly abandoned and left to suffer the harsh realities of life outside. Rescued from the desolate Rio Grande Valley in Texas, she knew nothing but the cold, hard reality of being tethered to a life of neglect.

Her fate hung by a thread when an Animal Control Officer intervened, plucking her from the brink of despair. However, even in her newfound sanctuary, time was slipping away for Hailey. The clock ticked mercilessly towards noon, the hour when her life was scheduled to be extinguished, as if her brief existence meant nothing at all.

Against all odds, a glimmer of hope emerged when we stepped forward to foster her. We spared no expense in ensuring her well-being, hastily arranging for her to be spayed. But tragedy struck yet again when Hailey, in her innocence, managed to reopen her tender incision, forcing us into a desperate race against time.

With a heavy heart, we confronted the reality of another surgery, a life-or-death gamble to save our beloved Hailey. The price we paid, both in emotional turmoil and a staggering financial burden, amounted to a heart-wrenching $7500. Yet, in the face of adversity, we clung to the flickering light of hope.

Now, Hailey lies motionless, her fragile body trembling in the aftermath of the second operation. We keep her confined, enveloped in silence, as she battles the pain and the scars that mar her young existence. Each passing moment holds a mixture of anticipation and trepidation, as we yearn for her healing to take hold, praying for her resolute spirit to prevail against all odds.

This is Zeus, a Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees Mix, who was brought into the shelter Monday right before lunch after he had been hit by a vehicle and left for dead.

On Tuesday, we were able to get Zeus into Credence Vet in Beeville and find out the extent of his injuries.

Zeus is the sweetest 6-month-old puppy even in excruciating pain and he weighs 53 lbs.

1️⃣He has a broken bone joint, and it's out of the socket on his left side.

2️⃣He also has a fractured pelvis on his right side

3️⃣His condition was far worse than we originally suspected, and he needs an orthopedic surgeon if he is gonna have any chance at a normal life.

We also discovered that he wasn't just hit by a vehicle but run over. We have secured a foster who will care for him after surgery but we need to raise $10,000 for Zeus to have life-saving surgery he needs.
