The Show Must Go On!

On December 12-13, sometime between the hours of 6:00 pm and 7:00 am, a massive part of the structural overhang to our theater came crashing down. We are beyond fortunate that this occurred when we had no one in or around our theater, and find it ironic that this may indeed have happened while we were having our Annual Holiday Celebration with our staff and Board of Directors. Many things to be grateful for.

After a very long day going through insurance matters, meeting with the Landlord, determination of safety and electrical concerns, acquisition and agreement of a professional restoration company removal of debris, and scheduling of workers through the evening, we have confirmed that our show, Annie, (which begins its last week of performances tonight) will indeed be able to run with no interruption of the show.

All of this emergency restoration work will be expensive, not to mention the actual repairs to our building. Due to the fact that it appears there may be no insurance coverage, we find ourselves in a financial situation that will require some immediate funding.

We were fortunate enough to find Mike Bartholomew of Independent Restoration Professionals who dropped what he was doing to assess the damage and get crews out here for clean up and repair. They worked through the night removing debris and broken glass and in the morning, they have been continuing the initial repair work to get things ready for the show.

While we are still awaiting the actual cost of the repair work from the Independent Restoration Professionals, we do know that this cost will not be covered by any type of insurance. We are told that the initial estimate for the emergency work could reach more than $10,000. This is something that our little Theater Company cannot even begin to absorb.

If you are a regular at our theater, you may know that we have events going on constantly. After this production closes, we have auditions for our next production, Seussical, Winter Camps at the end of the month, and then rehearsals begin for Seussical. As you can see, we service many students and cannot afford to have our theater closed in any way, as every project is an ongoing source of revenue for us.
