Protect YCNS
Dear friends of YCNS,
We’re asking for your help to keep YCNS the way you remember it.
Your children grew up here. We depended on you then to make play dough, wash towels, take care of the hermit crabs, and run our board. Now we’re asking you to donate so that our school - the longest-running cooperative preschool in Yorktown - can continue serving the littlest learners of our community, as it has since we first opened our doors in 1948.
Parents in our community depend on YCNS to nurture the cognitive, social and emotional development of their children, through our gentle, play-based, whole-child philosophy. Our unique cooperative structure means that families get to be an integral part of their children’s early education, and to be the owners and operators of their children’s school. Without YCNS, local families won’t have access to the affordable, secure, holistic education that our school provides.
It’s no secret that 2020 has taken a toll on us all. This school year, YCNS faces constraints on class size (and therefore tuition), increased cleaning and PPE costs, and the very real possibility that some families will not return. It has been next to impossible to plan and budget, but even with the ever-changing variables we do know, our already lean operational costs will greatly exceed our income.
We cannot let 2020 take YCNS with it too.
That’s why we’re asking you to join us in nurturing the nursery school that will always be part of your family’s story. We know the financial ground is shaky for many of our families; but for those that can contribute, we ask that you donate to help our preschool stay afloat.
Our fundraising goal is $10,000. We will use this money to purchase additional sinks and air filters for the classrooms; pay our hardworking teachers a fair salary; enhance cleaning and disinfection protocols; and help cover operational costs. Because we are a non-profit, your donation is also tax deductible (federal non-profit tax ID: 13-1740506).
With your help, our smallest citizens can learn to love school, just as your children did while they were here.
Thank you for all you’ve done for YCNS over the years. We appreciated you then, and we need you more than ever now.
With love,
The YCNS Board
