Stories Without Borders is a student-led organization that uses the power of stories and service to build connection, empathy and understanding around the world. In addition to providing informational resources, SWB partners with nonprofits to address current social issues. Right now, we are uniting efforts from six LA schools to collect supplies and raise funds for Yes We Can World Foundation, to provide education to refugee and migrant kids.

About Yes We Can World Foundation: Yes We Can World Foundation is an award winning nonprofit leading education efforts for refugee and migrant children at the US-MX border. Their mission is to provide quality bilingual education and mental health resources to children regardless of their location, legal status and/or economic background.

Yes We Can World Foundation founded the Yes We Can Mobile Schools Programs, the first accredited bilingual school program for refugee and migrant children at the US-MX border. Yes We Can has provided school enrollment for over 3,500 refugee and migrant children!

We are excited to partner with Yes We Can to help them provide education to more kids in need. 100% of funds raised will go directly to Yes We Can to provide school supplies, educational materials, books, and other pressing needs of the refugee and migrant children living at the shelters.

Hi Friends, 

Help me celebrate my birthday today with the gift of education. I would love your support in helping me raise funds to build a mobile school for migrant children at the US-MX border. For the past 2 and a half years I've been working with Yes We Can to build these mobile schools and we have one currently in the conversion stage. Funds raised will help us start the conversion process that means buy the wood supplies, electric supplies, furniture, and all the supplies we need to get this mobile school Onn the road.

Hi Friends,

 

Please help me celebrate my retirement! After 35 years of service at the US Post Office I am proud to continue my life of service by helping those who need us most. There is a great crisis at the US-MX border and hundreds of children are at the center of this crisis. In 2019 I was honored to help build the first mobile school with our friends at Yes We Can World Foundation. Now just two years later we are working on a third mobile school isn't that incredible?

 

I need your help to turn this bus into a mobile school. The goal is to raise funds to covert this bus ASAP. I'm ready to jump back in and help build this school and get it on the road. Many of you have been following the incredible work of Yes We Can and know first hand that all funds multiply in the impact they create for these children.

 

I can not be more proud to dedicate my retirement to this cause. I hope you can join me and celebrate with me a career of 35 years of serving you and our neighbors as a mail carrier.

 

I am now moving on to a new phase of community work and it starts here.

2023 TOP 10 CNN HERO

The Elevate Prize Foundation will be matching donations to all of the 2023 Top 10 CNN Heroes up to $50,000 per hero.

At 10, Estefanía Rebellón and her family were forced to flee their home in Colombia because of death threats. As a migrant child, Estefanía found support from teachers in Miami schools and ultimately thrived. In 2018, when she joined a volunteer trip to Tijuana, she saw migrant children living in limbo without access to schools or an education and decided to act. Transforming buses into mobile classrooms and partnering with shelters in Mexico, today Rebellón’s Yes We Can World Foundation has opened four school locations along the border and currently has three mobile school buses. The group has served more than 3,100 migrant children from 10 countries.
