Yellowhammer Fund

The Border Crossers Bail Fund is a grassroots collective with members in various regions of the the US that raises money to bond asylum seekers out of ICE detention, and also provide material  support in the immediate aftermath of their release, or deportation, in tandem with asylum seeker support networks. We work with particular individuals and families in assisting with payment of bail and meeting the basic necessities border crossers require once out of detention. Asylum seekers cannot work for the first year they are in the US, and whether deported or released in the US, border crossers leave ICE detention with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. 


There is no federal time limit for detention. Asylum seekers can await trial indefinitely, suffering the cruelty of migrant camps—holding rooms, with  little to no access to medical care, food and water, basic sanitation, and bedding—because they cannot afford to make bail. Short of wholesale abolition of ICE detention, the fastest way to free asylum seekers—to reunite them with family members and loved ones, to make safety and dignity possible —is to bail them out. A bail fund is a direct form of contact and support between people on the outside of cages with financial means and those in need who are suffering from the aggressive and cruel policies of the US border regime. 


Until the Border Crossers bail fund secures nonprofit status, Yellow Hammer fund will be serving as our fiscal sponsor. Yellow Hammer Fund is a 501c3 nonprofit based in Alabama, federal EIN: 82-1822204. These donations are tax-deductible, and 100 percent of donations are granted to the Border Crossers Bail Fund to use in pursuing their mission. Tax deductible donations can be made here

#RoseforResistance is a Boston area based initiative that has brought together women owned and led businesses from around the region to stand up for our basic human rights. In the face of oppression over our bodies, we must foster change to make a meaningful impact where it is needed and have our voices heard. We’re raising money to support the Yellowhammer fund which provides funding for anyone seeking care at one of Alabama’s three abortion clinics and will help with other barriers to access (travel, lodging, etc.).

Rebel Rebel, a natural wine bar in Somerville, kicked off the #RoséForResistance movement by donating 100% of rosé sales to the Yellowhammer fund. Whether it’s enjoying a nice glass of rosé at Rebel Rebel or donating to the gofundme, there’s plenty of ways to get involved and join the #RoseforResistance initiative.
