We are all witness to the  unfolding COVID tragedy in India.  We urgently seek your support in this moment of crises in helping India defeat the second  round of Covid 19. 
To procure and deliver life saving equipment and other community help in response to the ongoing Covid 19 crises, we  solicit your help to help us reach a fund raising goal of $250,000.  
From the funds raised from this campaign, we will ship medical equipment Pulse oximeters, PPE, Thermometers, Oxygen Concentrators and much more to local medical organizations and NGOs providing medical care in India. We are  also planning to arrange for  food and medicines to the poor and the destitute as well as the isolated senior citizens of India. We are in touch with  a US based distributor for purchase of pulse oximeters, PPE and oxygen supplies. Our particular target is get pulse oximeters widely to as many people as possible. 
We are partnering with World Health and Education Network (WHEN), a registered 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization based in the US . With our raised funds we will be working closely with WHEN and its supported organizations to provide immediate COVID relief supplies to the grounds. Calcutta Rescue (www.calcuttarescue.org) is one  of WHEN's primary supported projects. In response to the devastating effects of the  COVID crisis and its  particular impacts on smaller healthcare enterprises in India, we will also be providing COVID relief to  small local  healthcare organizations across India in all the major cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai.

Want to join me in making a difference in a child's life?  Has technology played a large role in your career or in other formative ways as you grew up?  It has for me, and so I'm raising money to match a cornerstone donation to create a new IT learning lab at Calcutta Rescue.

Background:
Calcutta Rescue (CR) is an Indian charity providing health care and education to the most economically disadvantaged and socially disfavoured people in Calcutta and West Bengal.  CR’s particular strength has been to focus on people that no one else helps and to “rescue” people from the consequences of ill-health, illiteracy & poverty.  This includes providing good health care, quality education for children and skills development which would ultimately lead to earning opportunities and a stable income.

Most children living in the slums and on the streets of Kolkata do not go to school. Calcutta Rescue recognizes education as a key to improving the future and the socio-economic conditions of the poorer sections of society. Our schools help these underprivileged children by providing educational facilities, support and the conditions in which they can have a successful education and better opportunities.

To this end, Calcutta Rescue is creating a new school to house the hundreds of students it serves.  This school will have updated facilities, and with your help, a modern computer lab for the children to learn and play.

Objective:
Our goal is to provide  computer training to our children, youth and the community in general.  Our model of training provides hands-on computer experience which sets it's experience apart from other programs whom may not have ever touched a computer during their studies.

Lessons that can be taught with the new computer lab include:

Basics of computers and basic use of tools and techniques – operate a computer, store, retrieve and manage data, use a computer to achieve basic word and data processing tasks; connect, disconnect and troubleshoot basic storage, input and output devices. 

Connect to the internet, use e-mail and web surfing, use search engines, keep the computer updated and secure, operate and manage content from external devices (sound recorders, digital cameras, scanners etc.); connect, disconnect, operate and troubleshoot digital devices.

Use different software applications to enhance one’s own learning – database applications, analysis of data and problem solving, computing, design, graphical and audio-visual communication; undertake research and carry out projects using web resources.

Where the money will be spent:
Though the new school needs about $130,000 worth of renovations, this does not include the money need to properly furnish or supply the school.  With a new home for nearly 350 pupils, a computer lab is a must have, and I'm trying to raise as much as possible to provide very opportunity to these excited students.   Here is a break down of the cost to fund and operate the computer lab.
