Latin's partnership with WE-ACTx began in 2005 and expanded in 2010 to support a summer camp for children struggling to cope with their HIV status.

Every year, Latin sends a team of students to Rwanda to provide on-site support for the camp. Since 2010, Latin students have worked to expand and sustain Latin's involvement in Rwanda by maintaining the youth empowerment camp and expanding support for Rwandan youth counselors who serve as peer parents year-round.

Thank you to those who continue to support Latin in Rwanda. Your generosity enables the ongoing success of our program.  Because of you, we now provide educational support for two of our Rwandan youth counselors, in addition to the support we provide for the summer camp.

Latin's partnership with WE-ACTx began in 2005 and expanded in 2009-2010 as we raised $10,000 to support a summer camp for children struggling to cope with their HIV status. In the summer of 2010, the first group of Latin students travelled to Rwanda to provide on-site support for the camp. Since then Latin students have worked to expand and sustain Latin's involvement in Rwanda by maintaining the youth empowerment camp and expanding support for Rwandan youth counselors who serve as peer parents year-round.

Despite the ongoing success of our program, so many more children need our help. Additionally, we have expanded support for the Rwandan youth counselors, and we now provide educational support for two of them. We are hoping to send a third through college with this year's effort.

Your donations will help us continue the summer programs as well as to continue our educational support.

The children of Rwanda need your help.

"WE-ACTx is an international community-based HIV/AIDS initiative.

The project was launched in 2003, when a group of frontline AIDS physicians, activists and researchers responded to an urgent global appeal from Rwandan genocide survivors for help accessing AIDS medications.

Today, a dedicated team of Rwandan health care providers operate their own local NGO, WE-ACTx for Hope, with the support of WE-ACTx, grassroots community partners and Rwandan government health agencies." - WE-ACTx.com

Latin's partnership with WE-ACTx began in 2005 and expanded in 2009-2010 as we raised $10,000 to support a summer camp for 45 children and leadership training for 9 Rwandan counselors who now serve as peer parents for young children struggling to cope with their HIV status. In the summer of 2010, the first group of Latin students traveled to Rwanda to provide on-site support for the camp.

Since then, Latin students have worked to expand and sustain Latin's involvement in Rwanda by maintaining the camp in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, each year as well as spreading the camp experience to the rural, mountainous village of Nyacyonga. 

However, despite the ongoing success of our camp, there are still so many more children out there that need our help. Each summer new kids get to experience camp and with your help, we can keep this positive experience going. 

Additionally, from the success of our camp, we've been able to extend the outreach and purpose of our programs. As of now, we have been able to fund for the full education of two Rwandan peer parents and are hoping to fund enough for a third. They've been accepted to prestigious universities in Rwanda, and we want to do everything we can to allow them to go.

In truth, a little bit goes a long way! Here are some sample donation sizes that can have a huge influence on the camp:

$25   provides food and water for 1 person
$50  provides all expenses for 1 camper 
$2000 provides university  tuition for a peer parent
