Women's Center of Wake County, Inc.

The mission of the Women's Center of Wake County is to prevent and to end homelessness for women and their families in partnership with individuals, agencies, and organizations throughout our community. We provide basic needs, support services, and housing services to homeless and low-income families. Hi friends, join me in making a difference by supporting a good cause! This year, the Alice M. Baldwin Scholars Class of 2022 cohort has chosen for our annual project to support the Women's Center, an organization that does incredible work to help vulnerable female-identifying people in the Triangle area.

The Women's Center is a low barrier crisis intervention assessment day center that provides meals, clothing, computer access, and a safe space for female-identifying persons facing unsafe or unsustainable living conditions. The organization uses a holistic model and offers clinical services case management, integrative permanent community-supported housing, and social engagement programming, among many other services.

COVID-19 has disproportionately harmed those most vulnerable in our society, with sharp increases in both housing insecurity and intimate partner violence rates. As Baldwin Scholars, our mission is to empower and fight for equity for female-identifying, non-binary, and gender-queer persons; this project will do just that. 

All donations raised here will go directly towards bettering the quality of living of housing insecure women in the Triangle, through funding the installation of a washer/dryer and upgrading shower facilities in the Center that will be available to any entrants. Additionally, it will support the Women’s Center Community Garden Project, which empowers formerly homeless individuals to help feed food-insecure people in Raleigh.

FlowCORPS has never been about just a workout - we are a community, and right now, we need one another more than ever. There are so many people in our city who have been deeply impacted by COVID-19 and we have been dreaming up some ways to give back.   Together with creatives in Raleigh, NC, along with Barbara Astrini, who lives in NYC and works for Nickelodeon (we have the cat graphic to thank her for!) we have designed and produced a limited run of t-shirts and face masks who's purchase will directly benefit The Womens Center of Wake County .  

TWC has been around for over 40 years and is a multi-service crisis intervention and assessment center, located near downtown Raleigh. Through tireless outreach, they work with each individual woman to break the cycle of trauma, abuse, violence and homelessness & assists her in realizing a fulfilling dignified life, achieving self-sufficiency and obtaining safe affordable housing. 

With the onset of COVID-19, so many things at The Women's Center drastically changed, seemly overnight, yet the women continue to need basic and critical services. Volunteers, meetings & tours are cancelled. Fundraising events have been cancelled indefinitely. Essential items are unavailable. An immediate set of challenges, procedures and protocol had to be implemented and will continue to be assessed.  

Your 100% tax deductable donation of any amount will go directly to The Women's Center and will ensure they can continue their commitment to care for the most at-risk women in our community. We are so glad to virtually come along side them during this crisis and we hope you will be too.
