Save Willow Springs Raceway
Save Willow Springs Raceway — For Good
A campaign led by WISPR MPG – Willow Springs Motorsports Preservation Group (a nonprofit 501(c)(3))
Willow Springs International Raceway has stood as a legendary proving ground for racers, builders, and enthusiasts since 1953. But while headlines celebrated its recent private sale, many are under the false impression that the track is now “safe.” It isn’t—not yet.
California has a tragic history of losing racetracks to development and NIMBY pressures. WISPR MPG, the Willow Springs Motorsports Preservation Group, was formed to ensure that doesn’t happen here.
We’re a nonprofit organization committed to preserving this historic facility—not just the pavement, but the community, the education, and the car culture it sustains.
⚠️ We’ve Already Lost Too Many Tracks
Here’s just a sample of what California’s racing community has watched disappear:
Irwindale Speedway & Dragstrip – Closed in 2024
Auto Club Speedway (Fontana) – 2023
Saugus Speedway – Closed in 2024
Riverside International Raceway – Demolished in 2003
Carlsbad Raceway, Ontario Motor Speedway, Ascot Park – All gone
They didn’t close because racing died. They closed because no one secured the land around them. And when developers moved in, the tracks couldn’t fight back.
Willow Springs Still Has a Chance — If We Act Now
Unlike most racetracks, Willow Springs is surrounded by thousands of acres of undeveloped desert. That gives us a rare opportunity:
We can buy that land.
We can build a protective buffer zone.
We can keep motorsports alive—here, in Southern California—for generations.
What This Campaign Supports
All funds raised go directly to WISPR MPG’s nonprofit mission:
✅ Acquiring surrounding land to prevent incompatible development
✅ Establishing zoning protections to keep noise complaints and lawsuits at bay
✅ Preserving the track's accessibility for driver education, car clubs, community events, and racing heritage
✅ Building a long-term future for the culture of speed, skill, and shared passion
We are not a for-profit company. We are enthusiasts, educators, builders, and fans—just like you—determined to protect what’s left of California’s car culture.
✊ Join the Fight to Protect the Track
If Willow Springs has ever been your home track, your dream destination, or the background to one of your best memories—this is your chance to give back.
