Willow Glen UMC

This summer, youth and families from Willow Glen UMC and the Joint Youth Ministry (JYM) are heading to Mexico to build a home for a family in need—with the help of Amor Ministries.

Over the course of a week, we’ll work side-by-side—ages 10 to 65—mixing cement, raising walls, and sharing meals as we build a simple, sturdy two-room house for a family living on the outskirts of Tijuana. We’ll sleep in tents, and trade comfort for community, hard work, and purpose.

But this trip isn’t just about building a house. It’s about building compassion, leadership, and connection. For all of us, this is a life-changing experience—where faith becomes real, and service becomes personal. The world feels challenging right now and we believe that in challenging times we are called to learn, bring hope and build community across borders.

We are sending a mission team to Baja this summer to build a house through Amor Ministries. This ministry offers stable housing to a working family, and we are excited to use our skills and gifts to build community both in Mexico and for our team.

Your donations will support the increased expenses for this building project as well as travel and logistics for our team, and will also provide resources for future projects here in our local community as well. Willow Glen UMC efforts provide outreach and shelter to the unhoused population in San Jose, and support and strengthen families in our community.
