Lisa's campaign for Wild Horse Diversionary Feed
Hi! My name is Lisa and I am a volunteer for Wild Horse Connection here in Northern Nevada which is a registered 501(c)3. I am not sure everyone is aware that here in Nevada, we are in extreme drought conditions which greatly affects our beautiful wild horses. There has been no water or forage for them since August 2020. We are a diversionary feed station with Wild Horse Connection and have a permit to legally feed the horses through the Nevada Dept. of Agriculture to divert the horses from the roads/neighborhoods. This year has been extremely hard on our wild horses trying to locate food and water. Wild Horse Connection has been trying to keep up with all financial responsibilities to feed approx. 1000 horses plus pay for all the other expenses they incur but sometimes it is overwhelming. My family has been helping to buy the feed for our 60-70 horses that come in daily. We are required to buy Certified Weed Free hay which costs $17 a bale. Our daily cost for the 8 bales of hay is $136 a day. Our monthly expense is approx. $3800 per month. We realize we need financial help in order to continue our diversionary program so we are trying to raise funds to keep it going at least 2 more months.
