Help Us Purchase a Barn For Hay Storage
We at ‘Wild at Heart Horse Rescue’ are in desperate need of a hay barn in order to store hay for our beautiful rescued horses. Since we moved to this location 6 months ago, we have been covering the hay with tarps in order to keep the rain and the crows away. Unfortunately, due to the extreme weather in Lancaster, California, the tarp can only do so much and the hay eventually gets destroyed. Due to the moisture, mold starts to accumulate in the hay and it becomes useless. Also, birds start picking at the tarp to get access to the hay in order to build their nests.
The weather here in Lancaster is very extreme. We experience extreme heat, cold, high winds, heavy rains and even snow. We have come to find that it is very difficult to store hay in an open area like this. We usually end up throwing away about 60 bales of hay per truckload as a result of mold growth.
As we all know, hay is quite expensive, so our goal is to be able to purchase, store it properly and make good use out of each bale. Since we are a Non-Profit Organization, our goal is to make good use of all of our funding and run a successful and efficient rescue organization. Most of you already know that rescue organizations do not receive any funding from the government. There have been many times where our ranch owner has had to dip into her emergency savings in order to purchase hay for the horses and that fund is running out.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have not been able to hold any fundraisers this year andhaven’t been receiving many donations.
We really need your help so we could purchase a hay barn. We are going to have to purchaseone that is approximately 30x50 with a 16 foot clearance.
Friends, would you be so kind and help us build our very first hay barn? Any amount would be a tremendous amount!
We at ‘Wild at Heart Horse Rescue (including rescue horses) thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts!
